Arcadia Water Company has been in existence for more than 100 years and, although not that old, its water distribution lines are aging and problems are occurring. During the July 4th holiday weekend, one of two main lines under Camelback Road broke, which required that the line be shut down until it could be repaired. Occurring when it did, the break could not be repaired as quickly as we hoped. City of Scottsdale approvals to shut down a portion of Camelback Road and to dig down to the line took more time than anticipated. Then when the line was uncovered, it was discovered that the repair would require a specially manufactured sleeve and clamps. No one in Arizona was able to provide these pieces, so they had to be ordered from a company in Texas. They were received on July 20, 2020, and on July 22, 2020 they were installed. Now, a sealant must be poured around the pipe to ensure it is watertight, and that will be done today, July 23, 2020. After the sealant cures, we will begin pumping water through the line, but that will not occur before the weekend. Starting Monday we should be operating on a normal schedule. We are fully aware of the problems this situation has caused to those who have not been receiving irrigation, and we apologize. Please be assured that we have done everything possible to correct this problem as soon as possible. Richard Rea, President
